A Headliner alternative that finds the clips for you
Headliner made audiograms popular: cover art, a waveform and captions, so audio can travel on social media. If you're looking for an alternative, you probably want the same result with less work, or at a lower price.
Cheap Clipping makes audiograms too, but it starts one step earlier. It listens to the whole episode, picks the moments most worth sharing, and captions them. You review, tweak and download.
No card needed. Paid plans from $5 a month.
What's different about Cheap Clipping
Most audiogram tools ask you to bring the moment: find a timestamp, trim it, then style it. That's fine for one clip, but it's the slow part when you want several clips from every episode.
Cheap Clipping reads the transcript of the full episode and gives you a list of candidate clips, each with a score for how shareable it looks and a short reason why it was picked. You keep the good ones, adjust the start and end on the transcript, and export.
- AI picks the best moments from the whole episode, with a score for each
- Audiograms with your cover art, moving sound bars and word-by-word captions
- 7 caption styles, keyword highlights, emoji and an on-screen hook title
- 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9 downloads at 1080p
- Works with video podcasts too: vertical clips that follow the speaker's face
Pricing, plainly
The free plan gives you 2 hours of video or audio a month, for episodes up to an hour long. Downloads carry a small watermark. Paid plans start at $5 a month for 10 hours, with no watermark. You can see every plan on the pricing page.
Headliner has its own free and paid plans, and they change from time to time, so compare against their current pricing page rather than a number on someone else's site. What we can tell you is ours: $5 a month for 10 hours of episodes, or $48 a year.
Bring your episode from wherever it lives
Upload an MP3, M4A or WAV, or paste a link: Apple Podcasts, Spotify (when the show also has a public feed), Podbean, Buzzsprout, an RSS feed, or the episode's own web page. For video podcasts you can upload the file or paste a YouTube, Twitch or Vimeo link to a video you own.
If the show's artwork is missing or blank, Cheap Clipping makes a clean cover tile with the show's initials, so your audiograms never go out with an empty square.
Fix captions once, not every episode
Automatic captions get names and jargon wrong. In Cheap Clipping you can fix a word right in the transcript, replace a misspelling across every clip at once, and save the fix so it's applied to future episodes too. Your co-host's name only needs correcting once.
What podcasters say
“Wow man, that's really cool and definitely a time saver. 2 of the 3 were especially good because it captured my analysis and not just the play by play.”

Questions
Can I make an audiogram without signing up?
Yes. The free audiogram maker at cheapclipping.com/tools/audiogram makes a captioned audiogram from a podcast link without an account. Sign up free when you want the AI to pick moments from the whole episode.
Does Cheap Clipping pick the moments automatically?
Yes. It transcribes the full episode and suggests the moments most likely to be shared, each with a score and a reason. You can also highlight any part of the transcript to make your own clip.
Can I use my own branding?
On the Creator plan and above, the brand kit adds your logo, font and accent colour to every clip, and audiograms can use your brand colours.
Is there a watermark?
Free downloads have a small Cheap Clipping watermark. Paid plans remove it.
